about

This is about choices. I was lucky enough to have a lot of options when I was younger. I really did feel like the world was my lobster (my son). I chose not to choose those choices but to choose my own choice instead (clear?). Some decisions were moral, some were financial. I put all the things I thought I could have been and stomped my foot while playing my guitar. The song then evolved into what you hear here.

lyrics

I could have been the scientist that made the great discovery
I could have been a banker spending everybody’s money
I could have a been a doctor and healed all the sick
I could have been a politician winning votes with false promises

But I chose something different, and I say with certainty
That I’ve been doing it for so long it’s inseparable from me. Oh

I could have been a fighter that began the revolution
I could have been in business making profit from pollution
I could have been a hero keeping all the people safe
I could have been a baddie set to destroy the human race

But I’m more sure than ever that I did the right thing. It’s why I wrote these words and with honesty I’ll sing

I am not afraid to say that I, I don’t know what I’m doing with my life
I took the road less travelled, made mistakes dressed up as fun
But I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one

I could have been a leader advocating peace and order
I could have been a taxman making everybody poorer
I could have been a genius building radical inventions
I could have been a liar, gaining trust with bad intentions

A few will ridicule this look at me just see waste. They’ll tell tales behind my back while I say this to their face

I am not afraid to say that I, don’t know what I’m doing with my life,
I took the road less travelled, made mistakes dressed up as fun.
And all the time I did this I can’t say I ever won.
I am not at all proud of the things I’ve done. But I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one.

I am not afraid to say that, I don’t know what I’m doing with my life,
I took the road less travelled, made mistakes dressed up as fun.
But I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one
Yeah I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one
Yeah I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one
